Labor law requires employers to collectively bargain with employees represented

Labor law requires employers to collectively bargain with employees represented by unions on three mandatory terms: Wages, hours, and conditions of employment. Outside of the three mandatory terms of collective bargaining, employers and employees’ union representatives are free to collectively bargain on other items as they agree. The world of sports provides wide-ranging examples of how the collective bargaining process unfolds. In some instances, it is contentious. In others, it is a smooth, easy process. This Assignment will look at strategies employed by various leagues in the collective bargaining process to determine which side—employers or employees—received the best end of the negotiations. Select one of the following leagues: the MLB, NBA, or NHL. Research that league’s most recent round of collective bargaining with their players’ respective union. Examine the negotiations and identify what each side obtained under the new collective bargaining agreement. Consider which side you believe received the better deal and why. Submit a 1- to 2-page paper in which you evaluate the collective bargaining case you selected. Your paper must contain the following:
A summary of the negotiations including what each side obtained under the new collective bargaining agreement
An evaluation explaining which side obtained the better deal in the agreement and why
Support that includes references to labor law and the collective bargaining process
Cite all references in your paper using APA style.

In recent years, the professional sports world has been shaken by a variety of s

In recent years, the professional sports world has been shaken by a variety of scandals. From instances of domestic violence and child abuse, to owners’ perceived racist comments and teams’ alleged bounty schemes, commissioners have been busy doling out punishments. In dealing with unprecedented issues, commissioners have oftentimes relied upon what is known as the best interest of the game clause to levy sanctions. This clause will be examined in the media this week. Select one of the four major sports leagues in the U.S. Complete research to find a recent example of how the commissioner in that league has used the best interest of the game clause. Consider the commissioner’s use of the clause and whether you think the use was appropriate or inappropriate.
Submit a 1- to 2-page paper on the instance you selected in which you analyze the commissioner’s use of the best interest of the game clause. Your analysis must contain the following:
A description of the instance you selected: Identify the commissioner and provide a brief summary of his or her use of the best interest of the game clause
An evaluation of the commissioner’s use of the clause: Explain whether the clause was used appropriately, and why
An evaluation of commissioner’s use of the clause: Describe any changes or adaptations you would have made in the instance if you were the commissioner
Cite all references in your paper using APA style.

The majority of U.S. states have implemented laws aimed at regulating sports age

The majority of U.S. states have implemented laws aimed at regulating sports agents. Furthermore, the U.S. federal government, through the Sports Agent Responsibility and Trust Act (SPARTA), has sought to regulate some actions of sports agents. Both the Uniform Athlete Agents Act and SPARTA allow for sports agents to be criminally prosecuted. However, even though these laws exist, stories and allegations surrounding agents providing college athletes with improper benefits continue to persist. Thus, the question becomes, how successful have the Uniform Athlete Agents Act and SPARTA been at regulating the behavior of sports agents?
Through online research, locate an instance of a sports agent who was charged with violating either the Uniform Athlete Agents Act in his or her state and/or SPARTA. Review the allegations against the agent and the case that was brought against him or her.
Submit a 1- to 2-page paper in which you analyze the case you found. Your analysis must contain the following:
An explanation of the allegations against the agent
An explanation of the punishment brought or sought against the agent
An explanation of whether you believe the punishment brought or sought was appropriate and why
An explanation of whether you believe that the Uniform Athlete Agents Act and SPARTA are enough to stop agents from giving college athletes improper benefits and why
Cite all references in your paper using APA style.
